It is reasonable to suggest that most generic concerns regarding timber sourcing relate to tropical hardwood. However, Premdor consider that all wood used - hardwood, softwood, or composite material requires close evaluation at the point of purchase.
Our skilled procurement team insist that all suppliers offer a written commitment to offer only from recognised suitable legal sources, and, where possible this is further supported by CPET approved environmental certification.
Even softwoods from Scandinavia and North America, where a traditional heritage exits as an established assurance of good forest management practice, timber for use in Premdor product is increasingly covered by formal certification.
In our product development process, Premdor endeavour to supplement traditional timber components with suitable composite materials such as particleboard and medium density fibreboard. By combining these substrates with face decoration and timber effects a significant reduction in the use of virgin wood is achieved, without aesthetic loss or reduced product performance.
