Chain of Custody

Supplying timber products under an environmental "Chain of Custody" offers assurance that an independently audited route to market is being followed. The process includes annotation of certification on all associated documentation. This in particular guarantees that appropriate wood sources are being used.

During 2006, after a detailed period of evaluation, involving our material suppliers, and UKAS approved environmental management experts, Premdor successfully introduced a range of key popular products carrying full "Chain of Custody".

Clear indicators coming from the market highlight that windows made from certified wood are increasingly the specifiers preferred choice. Where Eco Homes or other sustainable initiatives form part of the development brief, timber products score highly, for both sustainability and thermal performance. All Premdor softwood windows now come with full of "Chain of Custody" credentials against FSC Certificate reference SA-COC-1483.

Timber doors for interior use have been long established as a commodity joinery item. Modern moulded hardboard faced doors in particular are recognised as the most popular cost effective design choice, and these, like windows from Premdor, now carry Chain of Custody certification under FSC references SW-COC-001827, SW-CW-001827 or PEFC reference PEFC / CoC-0090.

FSC doors are mixed products manufactured under a 70% minimum threshold claim. The remaining 30% of material is made up of controlled wood and recycled materials.

The controlled wood is sourced from:

1. Sustainable forests in and around the Varmland, Jamtland and Vastmanland area of Sweden.

2. Sustainable forests within 50 km of Arnsberg and 70 km of Gotha in Germany.

The recycled material is sourced from the Drome area of France.
